Like your solar air conditioning easier than easy?  Like not having to put a hole through your wall or deal with a line set? Only need cooling (for summertime use--no heating)? So, this is the same 12,000 BTU output as the MS12 and HS12 mini splits.  It'll automatically prioritize solar when it's a bit cloudy, but fill in with grid power (if you have it plugged in) as needed to run to meet your required setpoint. This has an inverter compressor, it also can be set to run at 25%, 50%, 75%, and of course 100% of its max speed to save energy--especially great if you are plugging into battery/inverter power for nighttime use.  It'll automatically slow down when it reaches set point, too.  No on/off inrush current for this unit, so that'll make you more comfortable and save money from the unit cycling like a normal non-inverter unit.

• Potential security concern for someone to gain access through the window (although this unit can be screwed onto the window for added security)

High-efficiency (for a window unit) 15 CEER (e for cooling when running on grid, infinite-efficiency free free free when running off-grid, and a combination of the two when running hybrid using both solar and grid (or inverter) power.  No batteries, inverter, or voltage controller is needed for the solar panels--just attach them in series and click them onto the outdoor unit.
